We’re asking CMOM to stop giving Citi social license to burn our futures

An Open Letter to the Board of Children’s Museum Of Manhattan:

We are a group of New York City parents concerned about the climate crisis and our children's futures. We are also big fans of CMOM and appreciate the wide range of programming and exhibits the museum offers for kids of all ages and backgrounds. Many of us have had the pleasure of visiting CMOM with our kids on a regular basis, and we want to thank you for your many educational and fun offerings.

We're writing because we're concerned about CMOM's financial partnership with Citi, the second biggest fossil fuel funding bank on Earth and a top funder of Exxon Mobil. As a museum committed to the growth and well-being of children, we believe that a public relationship with Citi contradicts your values and mission. Relationships with well respected, family oriented institutions like CMOM help banks and the fossil fuel companies they finance maintain the social license that allows them to continue fueling the climate crisis. This must change for our children to have a shot at a livable future.

As we experienced this summer with climate change fueled wildfire smoke and flooding, the climate crisis hurts all children and all New Yorkers.

Every day that Citi continues to funnel billions to fossil fuels while the planet melts and burns puts our children at risk. Please do the right thing, stand with families and end your relationship with Citi.

Sincerely,

Climate Families NYC
